Squad 3 and AC Robie arrived and found smoke issuing from the building. The call was immediately upgraded to a building fire that brought mutual aid resources from Malvern Fire Company, East Whiteland Fire Company, Berwyn Fire Company, Radnor Fire Company and Tredyffrin Township Police Department. Working together, crews encountered a heavy smoke condition in the interior warehouse/loading dock used to unload and process shredded paper. Further investigation determined the source to be burning materials inside a box truck located inside the building. The fire was rapidly controlled and the building ventilated to remove smoke and toxic gases.
This was the second fire incident for PFC in 16 hrs. Paoli Fire Company is staffed 24 hrs a day by a combined group of dedicated volunteer and career members. Station-based staffing like this allow PFC to make rapid, efficient and effective emergency responses like this one that limited the damage and prevented a much bigger incident.
