Paoli Ambulance assist's in Paoli Hospital Accreditation

The time is 03:30 A.M, and your suddenly a woken by a heavy pressure on your chest, or you are playing tennis at the Upper Mainline YMCA, and you develop chest pains.  You call 9-1-1, and Paramedics arrive, and begin to assess you; Upon the exam, your EKG shows you are experiencing a heart attack.  In these situations seconds count, that is why the Paoli Hospital has achieved re-accreditation for Chest pains, and Heart Attack.  An accreditation unsues that organizations meet a specific and also their process ensures that their certification practices are acceptable, typically meaning that they are competent to test and certify third parties, behave ethically and employ suitable quality assurance.

On Thursday August 8th, 2013, the Paoli Fire Company and the Berwyn Fire Company assisted the Paoli Hospital with a re-accreditation for chest pains/ Heart attack emergencies.  Ambulance 3, and Medic 2-3 arrived at a mock chest pains calls at the Upper Mainline YMCA, where a female tennis player began experiencing chest pains.  Ambulance 3 and Medic 2-3 began assessments on the patient, and found the patient experiencing a heart attack.  With modern technology, and equipment, Berwyn's paramedics (as well as other surrounding Advanced Life Support Units in the area), are able to transmit the patients EKG to the hospital using Blue-Tooth technology.  The National Average from the time of patient arriving at the hospital to the patient being transferred to the Cardiac Catheterization unit average is 90 minutes.  Paoli Hospital has an average time of 64 minutes.
