Rabbit Run Rd/ Severe weather

On Wednesday February 5th, 2014, a significant ice storm caused wide spread damage through out Chester County, and the greater Philadelphia Region.  Station 3 ran numerous weather related emergency calls including down tree's, wire's and odor of electrical in the dwelling. 

 Around 11:30 a.m, while crew's were clearing several other calls, Chester County  Station 3 was dispatched to 21 Rabbit Run Road for a house fire.  Caller's reported a fire in the first floor of the residence's.  Assist 3 requested Engine 4-5 (Malvern Fire Company's pumper/tanker) to assist.  While crew's were responding, they encountered numerous closed roads, and down tree's.  Upon the arrival of Engine 3-1, they encountered a 4 story single family dwelling with fire showing. Engine 3-1 went in service with 1.75" water line.  Engine 3-5 arrived a short term later and a 2nd 1.75" hose was put in service as well as esthablishing Command.  A tanker task force was requested bringing additional tanker's from East Whiteland, Lionville, and several other departments.  Malvern Fire Company, Berwyn Fire Company, Newtown Square Fire Company, Radnor Fire Company's were also requested to assist.  Crew's work diligently and where able to contain the fire to a sun room and part of the attic.   Crew's remained on scene for several hour's protecting belonging's and checking for any further fire spread. 1 firefighter suffered minor in injuries  While crew's operated on this fire, Radnor Fire Company relocated to Paoli Fire Company's responded on a tree's and wire's call.  Rocky Run also relocated to Station 3 to cover response's in the Paoli Fire Company District and responded to several emergency response's in the district.  The Paoli Fire Company would like to thank Rocky Run and Radnor Fire Company on covering our area.  We would also like to thank the responding departments on the scene of Rabbit Run for their assistance.
